It is the responsibility of the Chief Investigator or their school to ensure appropriate insurance cover is in place for the externally-funded project.University insurance information and contact information can be found here. Separate reference is also made to the UTAS Insurance Policy, and Insurance Guidelines effective December 2011.
Chief Investigators and their Head of School are required to sign the Clearance Form for all externally-funded projects, which indicates that appropriate insurance cover is in place.
Unusual or dangerous activities are subject to exclusions, conditions and limitations. Examples include:
any activity that could expose the University to litigation.
Researchers who are carrying out any of these activities or any other unusual or dangerous activities are encouraged to inform the insurance office at an early stage of the research project.
