Research Funding comes from two broad areas: internal funding and external funding.
Internal funding comprises of funding from the UTAS Central account (consisting of Commonwealth RIB, RTS, and IGS funding), which provides support for schemes such as the Research Enhancement Grant Scheme, and Conference Support.
External funding comprises of funding from Australia and overseas and includes prominent schemes such as the Australian Research Council (ARC), National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), other Commonwealth and State Government schemes, private industry, not for profit foundations, overseas governments and industries, and donations for research.
External funding may be granted via a research contract, a negotiated direct offer of funding, a consultancy, a donation towards a specific research project, a post-graduate research scholarship, a fellowship, etc.
The main resource for searching for external funding opportunities is the Research Professional funding database. Research Professional provides a comprehensive funding opportunities database offering researchers the opportunity to search for research funding in all disciplines from a wide range of sponsors in Australia and overseas.
Successful researchers who have previously received research grants and funding are also available to help review your application through the University’s Peer Review College available from WARP Level 2. This facility allows you to search for successful UTAS grant and research funding holders. Only current academic staff with successful research funding outcomes are displayed.
