All non-UTAS funding may be classified into two major groups:
The Australian Research Council (ARC) administers a major body of Commonwealth Government sponsored awards for ARC Discovery, Linkage and Fellowships.
The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), provides funding for all areas of research relevant to human health and medicine. NHMRC awards are divided into categories that reflect the intent of a grant rather than the topic of research.
COS has now merged with Pivot to provide research administrators, researchers and their institutions easy and targeted access to funding opportunities and collaborators around the world.
Pivot combines the best of COS, with intelligent mapping features that expedite funding discovery, dissemination and collaboration. If you have a scholar profile listing your publications, Pivot will search for funding opportunities based on your publication key words.

JASON is a program developed jointly by a number of universities. It aims to assist students wishing to pursue postgraduate studies (either within Australia or internationally) gain access to current information regarding funding opportunities through various scholarship programs run through universities, charitable foundations, government and private institutions
Contract Research and Consultancy funds may be offered to the University following discussions between the researcher and an industry or government organisation.
