ARC Future Fellowships 2014

Funding rules for the ARC Future Fellowships scheme have now been released at http://www.arc.gov.au/ncgp/futurefel/ft_fundingrules.htm

The 2014 Future Fellowship due date has not yet been released by the ARC. For indicative timelines, refer to the ARC Important Dates page. It is expected applications will be due to UTAS ORS late October/early November 2013.

Background

Future Fellowships promote research in areas of critical national importance by giving outstanding researchers incentives to conduct their research in Australia.

A Future Fellowship provides an investigator's salary for four years.

The objectives of the Future Fellowships scheme are to:

• attract and retain outstanding mid-career researchers;
• build collaboration across industry and/or research institutions and/or disciplines;
• support research in national priorities across all disciplines that will result in economic,
• environmental, social, health and/or cultural benefits for Australia; and
• strengthen Australia’s research capacity by supporting innovative, internationally competitive research.

Internal Nomination Submitted to ORS	11 September 2013
Round Opens	2 October 2013
Eligibility Exemptions due to UTAS ORS in RMS	Mid October
ORS Submission Date	Expected late October/early November
ARC Submission Date	Late November/early December

How to apply:

UTAS will determine its applicant field via a mandatory Internal Nomination process to ensure that the University’s applicant field is closely aligned with the core requirements of the Future Fellowship scheme. Internal nominations will require submission of the Candidate Application Form and Faculty Nomination Statement to central ORS (research.funding@utas.edu.au) by 11 September 2013.

UTAS INTERNAL NOMINATION PROCESS

1. Prospecive Future Fellowship nominees complete the UTAS Nomination Form for Candidates and attach their summary CV. Both are lodged through the relevant UTAS Head of School or host UTAS Centre to their Faculty and/or direct to their Institute for consideration.
2. If happy to endorse the candidate, the Faculty or Institute prepares a formal Nomination Statement for consideration by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), following the template Nomination Statement from Faculties/Institutes.
3. Faculties will then forward their Nomination Statements, together with the candidate Nomination Forms and CVs to UTAS Office of Research Services (UTAS ORS) at Research.Funding@utas.edu.au. These documents are to be provided to UTAS ORS in a single consolidated PDF.
