The scheme

 The Linkage Projects Development Program provides comprehensive support to applicants in order to submit highly competitive proposals:
  1. Application workshops are open to all potential ARC Linkage project applicants;
  2. Highly ranked EOIs however will receive access to a mock peer review panel (with face-to-face feedback and a written report) and financial incentives on submission of a Linkage Projects application.
  3. Program participants are expected to lodge an ARC Linkage grant proposal within two rounds of commencing the program. For the 2011 program this would mean the November 2011 or May 2012 round.
  4. Endorsement of the EOI must be provided by the Head of School and Dean/Head of Institute.
  5. Similar endorsement must be obtained from the Chief Executive Officer or delegate of the Partner Organisation(s).
  6. A comprehensive timeline for the project is available.

Funding

 The number of incentive grants awarded will depend upon the final numbers of highly ranked EOIs but are likely to be in the order of $5,000 to $10,000 each. Awarded on completion of the full program and submission of a Linkage projects application, funding must be used on starting the research program outlined in the application, results of which can be fed into the applicant’s ARC rejoinder.

Selection criteria
  1. Academic merit of the proposal including the likelihood of it leading to a competitive application for funding (50%).
  2. Track record of applicant(s) relative to opportunity including the potential to build their research capacity (25%).
  3. Demonstrated commitment of the Partner Organisation(s) to be in a future Linkage application (25%).

Selection process

 Expression of Interests will be short-listed by the Associate Deans (Research) and submitted to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) for approval.
