The Student Centre provides support and advice to candidates with ongoing Equity and Access issues. Disability Advisors are available to assist you and your supervisory team work out support arrangements. Counselling and cross-cultural support are also available.

Integrity and Ethics
The backbone of UTAS research culture. Many research projects including PhD or Masters by Research projects require human or animal ethics approval to proceed. It is essential that you discuss whether ethics approval is needed and if so how to obtain it with your supervisor/s and/or your GRC.

Student Learning Skills

Medical Facilities - Hobart (PDF 169KB) and Launceston (PDF 190KB)
A variety of medical facilities - from doctors to dentists, pharmacies, specialists and more - are available on and around the Hobart and Launceston campuses.

Unigym
With facilities in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie, Unigym offers a wide variety of classes, personal training and newly refurbished gymnasiums at competitive student pricing.

Child Care Centre
Quality child care is available at Sandy Bay and Newnham campuses. The Centres are managed by Lady Gowrie Child Care Centres. At times, these facilties can experience periods of high demand; bookings are essential and waiting lists often apply.

The Co-op Bookshop
Located in the Union Building, the Co-op Bookshop offers general fiction and non-fiction, textbooks and stationery. Become a member for a once-off $20 fee and receive discounts on all stock.

The UTAS Community, Friends and Networks Programme connects candidates who are new to town with Tasmanian people from all walks of life.

TUU Postgraduate Council
The TUU Postgraduate Council provides advocacy, representation and community building to postgraduates at UTAS and is run by a team of voluntary and highly motivated postgraduate students. For news and updates, see the Taspostgrads Blog and Taspostgrads on Facebook.

MyLO
MyLO is an online learning tool that will help you with Graduate Certificate in Research materials and resources.

Webmail
IT Services provides webmail access for the University's staff and students. The service runs on a local ITR server which should provide faster mail access than Hotmail or Yahoo on any UTas campus.

IT and Webmail Support
The Service Desk provides support for students on IT and online learning matters. You can request support through the Service Desk website, or phone us on 03 6226 1818 Mon-Fri, 8:30am-5:00pm AEST except public holidays.

The University Club
Located on the Hobart campus, the University Club serves coffee and lunch exclusively to postgrads and staff.
Other dining options include Lazenby's, Pepperz and the Refectory (Hobart), Degrees and Saltz (Launceston), and the University Cafe (Cradle Coast).
