Level: PhD
The IMOS Monitoring of Apex Predators in the Southern Ocean (MAPSO) project, aims to use concurrent tracking of multiple species at multiple sites to identify areas of ecological significance in East Antarctica. This project will involve working with tracking data from flying birds, penguins and seals to identify regions that are used by multiple species, and to develop statistical models to identify the underlying bio-physical processes that characterise them. The results will be used in bio-regionalisation mapping of the Southern Ocean and in identifying potential Marine Protected Areas.
