The Board of Graduate Research has a mandate to ensure that research education and training maintains a high profile internally, nationally and internationally and that high standards of supervision are maintained.
All higher degree by research supervisors are required to be registered with the Board of Graduate Research. It is expected that every registered UTAS supervisor will:
- comply with all relevant University policies, rules codes of conduct relating to research and research supervision;
- be informed about quality supervision practices and institutional policies
- inform the Head of School or Graduate Research Coordinator on a regular basis about the progress of each candidate and participate in the annual review;
- take and maintain records of meetings with candidates; and
- be prepared to discuss their performance as a supervisor with their manager at performance management meetings.
