Prior approval applications
If your project already has approval from a NHMRC registered Australian HREC, you should complete a prior approval application form. This should be submitted along with a copy of the approved application, and a copy of the formal letter of approval.
Please also include a localised (Tasmanian researcher-specific) information sheet and consent form.

Full applications
If your project is more than low risk, you will need to complete a full application to be reviewed by the committee.

Low risk applications
If your project is low risk (the only foreseeable risk is one of discomfort), you can submit a low risk application. These are reviewed by the Chair on behalf of the HREC. The Chair may determine that your project presents more than low risk to participants and will request that you complete a full application.

Exemptions
If you believe your project is exempt from ethical review, please email the appropriate Ethics Officer, (refer to When and where to submit), to confirm this. The Ethics Officer may confer with the Chair of the committee to determine if your project is exempt.
