In the Code, peer review refers to the impartial and independent assessment of research by others working in the same field or a related field. Section 6 of the Code promotes the use of peer review in a variety of activities, including the assessment of grant applications, in selecting material for publication, in the review of performance of researchers and teams, and in the selection of staff. Peer review is an important tool for maintaining the highest standards of practice and integrity in research. The University recognises the importance of the peer review process. Consequently, the Australian Code Steering Committee is currently developing a statement to clearly articulate the University’s expectations regarding the use of peer review in research activities.
