RCS Year 9 Health Careers Workshop

The RCS hosted the annual Year 9 Health Careers Workshops in Burnie on 2nd October 2012 and in Latrobe on 19th October  2012.

Around 80 students attended each workshop and were exposed to a variety of interactive sessions presented by a large amount of health professionals and RCS students, across a broad spectrum of health careers.
The main message at the workshops is that health careers are wide and varied, and not limited to the traditional fields of Nursing and Medicine.
The workshops are run in partnership with the Tasmanian Health Organisation - North West, with professional health staff volunteering their time to contribute career advice to the workshop participants, and the Tasmanian Department of Education, through the Pathway Planning Program.

The Year 9 Health Careers day held at Mersey Community Hospital on October 19, was reported on by ABC Northern Tasmania.  "Your afternoon's Elaine Harris talked with participating students about the day and also met with Therese Evans, Manager Marketing and Community Engagement for the RCS, and Rachel Matchett, Pathway Planning Officer for Sheffield and Ulverstone High Schools."
