Dr Helen Murphy - Honorary Consultant/Senior Research Associate, University of Cambridge Metabolic Research Laboratories and NIHR Cambridge Biomedical Centre
"The Artificial Pancreas: Past, Present and Future"
Dr Murphy's research has highlighted the gap that currently exists between the expectations of good blood glucose control and the realities of actually achieving it, particularly in type 1 diabetes. Newer closed loop insulin delivery systems, the so called artificial pancreas aim to bridge this gap.
Dr Murphy will review the recent progress and future challenges of closed loop systems.
