The University Department of Rural Health provides health students with funds to assist with the cost of travel and accommodation to undertake placements in rural Tasmania. It is available to students who travel more than 40km from their home address. It is not available either to students who stay at a Rural Health Teaching Site or to students receiving financial assistance for placements from their schools.
Completion of the brief post-placement survey will allow us to process payments. Google Maps can be used to determine the distance between placement locations and your home address.
Students receiving clinical placement scholarships from either the Australian College of Nursing or SARRAH should check eligibility with the Student Support Officer before claiming a Rural Placement Allowance.
Students are encouraged to complete a brief survey for quality assurance purposes at the end of their placement. At the end of June 2013 and December 2013, all students who have completed the survey will have their names entered into a draw to win a $200 gift voucher redeemable at their business of choice, for example:
