The Rural Social Research Group undertakes social research that is relevant to agriculture and natural resource management in order to improve the quality of life in rural and regional areas, to promote better understanding of rural and regional social issues amongst decision makers and management agencies, and to contribute to a socially, ecologically, and economically sustainable future for rural and regional communities.
About the Research GroupThe Research Group is part of the Tasmanian Institute of Agricultural Research (TIAR) at the University of Tasmania. TIAR is a partnership between the University, the Tasmanian Department of Primary Industries and Water.
People
The Rural Social Research Group is led by Prof Frank Vanclay, and has a number of research fellows and PhD students. Several staff from other Schools at the University of Tasmania and from other universities contribute to the work of the Group.
