This year’s SAHANZ conference is being held solely in Launceston and there is an airport in Launceston with regular services to and from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
However, for delegates wishing to spend additional time in Tasmania, be aware that Hobart (approximately 220 kms south of Launceston) also has an airport. If you would like to spend time in Hobart, it is possible to fly in to Hobart and out of Launceston, or vice versa. Travel between Hobart and Launceston is by road, either by car or bus and approximately 2.5 or 3 hrs, respectively. All the regular car hire companies are available and the main bus company is Redline. The Redline service is reliable and comfortable, but it is advisable to book.
A range of accommodation options, with special SAHANZ rates, have been provided by the Launceston City Council’s Travel and Information Centre. To book these options, please contact the Centre and identify yourself as a SAHANZ delegate.
Please note that Launceston City Council is supporting SAHANZ 2012 with a financial incentive for every booking made through the Launceston Travel and Information Centre. Such bookings may be for the accommodation options on the list provided, or any other establishments available through the Centre. As this incentive has been factored into keeping registration costs down, we’d like to encourage all delegates to use the booking service offered by Centre, if at all possible.
