Scholarships and Bursaries

Welcome to University of Tasmania Scholarships

Our program runs on a calendar year basis. Applications for most awards commencing in Semester 1 open at the beginning of August and close strictly on 31 October in the year prior. An exception to this is scholarships for continuing engineering students, which open in May and close on 30 June in the year prior. There is a very limited round for Semester 2 commencement, with applications opening in May and closing on 30 June each year. ANY COURSE: Point of Women Bursary; Ulverstone Uniting Church West North-West Bursary.

AMC: Co-Operative Education Scholarship.

AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE: Lewis and Sons Bursary in Agricultural Science; Tasmanian Government Scholarship in Agricultural Innovation.

ENGINEERING: City of Launceston; GHD; Hazell Bros; pitt&sherry; SEMF; TEMCO Community Foundation.

HONOURS: all courses, including Arts, Chemistry, Marine & Antarctic Studies, Medical Science Precinct, Menzies, Zoology; as well as Bookend Trust Shadow Scholarship in Zoology, Cultural Environments and Heritage Honours Scholarship, DJ Motors Honours Scholarship in Economics, Dr Eric Guiler Tasmanian Devil Honours Scholarship, J Malcolm Gillies Honours Scholarship in Genetics, Nick Cretan Tasmania University Scholarship in Tourism and/or Marketing, Professor Newton Barber Honours Scholarship in Plant Science, Tasmanian Spatial Industry Honours Scholarship.

INDIGENOUS Commonwealth Scholarships.

MEDICINE: Fred McKay Medical Student Scholarship.

MUSIC: scholarships in orchestral string, wind and brass instruments; classical guitar; classical piano; and contemporary music performance; D&MV McDonald Scholarship in Music; Jan Sedivka Scholarship in Music; Sir Victor Burley Postgraduate Scholarship in Music.

NURSING: Lions Club of Westbury Nursing Scholarship; Robin Miller RFDS Nursing Scholarship.

OVERSEAS TRAVEL: Estelle Marguerite Taylor Overseas Exchange Scholarship; Federation Scholarship in Law; Foundation Overseas Exchange Scholarship; Soren Nielsen Travelling Scholarship in Engineering; Tasmania Overseas Travel Scholarship.

The majority of the funding for our scholarships and bursaries is provided by donations made through the University of Tasmania Foundation.
