The Faculty of Science, Engineering & Technology offer post graduate courses in science education, enabling qualified teachers to upgrade thier knowledge and skills to meet the requirements of the Australian Curriculum.
The Graduate Certificate in Science Education
The Graduate Certificate in Science Education is a program for science education professionals. It aims to update and broaden the knowledge of practising science teachers who work at an upper primary, secondary or senior secondary level. It is also open to others involved in the field of science education. The program addresses professional learning opportunities for science educators in both the life sciences and physical sciences by providing access to current developments in science ("hot topics") as well as examining how new topics can be introduced into the classroom curriculum in line with the requirements of the Australian Curriculum in Science.
The Graduate Certificate in Geographical Education
The Graduate Certificate in Geographical Education seeks to provide a unique, timely and flexibly-delivered opportunity, via distance education, for qualified teachers to upgrade their knowledge of geography in order to meet the needs of primary and secondary students required to engage with the Australian Curriculum in Geography.
These courses are designed to provide qualifies teachers with an advanced skill set, allowing for career progression within the education system.
Australian Science Teachers Association, Science Teachers Association of Tasmania, Australian Geography Teachers Association, Tasmanian Geography Teachers' Association.
Graduate Certificate in Science Education
This course consists of four units, can be completed is one year can be completed by part-time studies over the duration of one-year. The course is offered online with a block teaching component during the school holidays in January and June.
Graduate Certificate in Geographical Education
This course consists of four units, can be completed is one year can be completed by part-time studies over the duration of one-year. The course is offered online.
