As Dean of the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology (SET), it is my great pleasure to invite you to the Dean’s Seminar Series. SET is a diverse and research-intensive Faculty which houses internationally recognized researchers and thought leaders. However, we have little opportunity to gather together staff and students from SET, or the broader University community, to learn about the many facets of our research. Similarly, we host many prominent international visitors and guests who enrich the local research culture but who can bring greater perspective to the broader academic community at UTAS. This new initiative aims to highlight our research achievements and to provide better opportunities to introduce our visitors to the UTAS community. The Faculty recognizes that many significant advances are made at discipline interfaces. With a shared increased understanding of cutting-edge research across SET, I hope the Dean’s Seminar Series will encourage greater collaboration across the disciplines.
The first seminar will take place at 3-4pm on Friday 5th April and will be presented by Prof Hayley Fowler, Professor of Climate Change Impacts, School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Newcastle University, UK. Further details are provided on the attached flyer. Please encourage undergraduate and postgraduate students to attend this and forthcoming presentations.
I look forward to seeing you at the seminar.
