UTAS Science, Engineering & Technology students can complete part of their degree overseas through formal exchange agreements with universities in the USA, Canada, Europe, Japan and Korea.
These agreements permit UTAS students to study at particular overseas universities without paying tuition fees, for either one or two semesters. Students remain enrolled at UTAS as Commonwealth supported students, under special enrolment codes, and pay the usual student contribution, which is normally considerably cheaper than paying overseas fees. Also, if eligible, students can continue to receive Youth Allowance.
International exchanges are a great opportunity to combine study with travel. You are able to earn credit toward your UTAS degree while studying in an overseas environment. Taking part in an international exchange is not only a way to experience another culture and to make long lasting friends but it can also be a way of enhancing employment prospects, as your education experience will be different to those of other graduates.
Applications are called on a twice-yearly basis (March and August) and applicants are ranked on the basis of their academic performance. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time, have studied for at least one year and be achieving credit average results. International students are also eligible. If you are interested in seizing the opportunity to study overseas we recommend that you check out our partner Universities' websites to decide upon a program that is attractive to you.
