Our Orientation programs are designed to help you find your way around campus, provide an introduction to your studies and put you in touch with the staff within your area of study, other students and all the university services available to you. Orientation is about becoming familiar with your surroundings and knowing where to go for assistance, should you need it. Put simply, if you miss out on orientation you will be missing out on essential information and lots of fun!
Orientation for students new to the Faculty of Science, Engineering & Technology in Semester 2 2015 will take place in Hobart on Tuesday 7th July 2015.
Students are asked to arrive by 9.20am at the Centenary Lecture Theatre, level 1 Centenary building, for the Faculty Welcome, before breaking off into specific degree and unit groups for the remainder of the day.

As midyear entry into the Bachelor of Engineering is only available for students with advanced standing from previous studies, there will be no specific Orientation session for students in this course for semester 2 2015. Students are encouraged to attend the Official Welcome, Orientation Expo and Faculty Welcome and to contact the degree coordinator, Dr Damien Holloway, for any specific questions.
Postgraduate Students will not have specific degree sessions on the day tailored to their program (excluding students in Masters of Information Technology and Systems (K7I), Graduate Diploma of Information and Communication Technology (K6I), and Graduate Certificate in Information and Communication Technology (K5I)).
Other students commencing in Postgraduate or Honours programs are encouraged to attend the Official Welcome to UTAS and Orientation Expo on Monday, and the Faculty Welcome on Tuesday and to contact their degree coordinator or supervisor to discuss further arrangements.
There will be an afternoon orientation session on Tuesday 7th July from 2-3 pm in Centenary Lecture Theatre, Centenary Building for HOBART postgraduate students studying:
- Masters of Information Technology and Systems (K7I)
- Graduate Diploma of Information and Communication Technology (K6I)
- Graduate Certificate in Information and Communication Technology (K5I)

Orientation for students new to the Faculty of Science, Engineering & Technology in Semester 2 2015 will take place in Launceston on Monday 6th July 2015.
Please make you way to the Inveresk campus by 12.30 for the Welcome by Head of School - Architecture, you will meet the staff, have a tour of the facilities and enjoy a free BBQ.
At 2pm you will need to travel to the Newnham Campus for the Official Welcome at 2.30 in the Arts Lecture Theatre 9.
Science students and ICT students:
You will be collected from the Official Welcome at 2.30 in the Arts Lecture Theatre 9 and guided to the School of Engineering and ICT in Room V137 in Building V for the Faculty of Science Engineering & Technology Welcome and Information session. Attendance at this session is optional for School of Architecture. Following the Faculty welcome ICT students will attend an ICT specific information session. Staff will be available to answer your enrolment questions after the information sessions.
