Two University of Tasmania early-career scientists have been recognised in the annual Scopus Young Researcher of the Year Awards.
Elsevier, a provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, and the Australasian Research Management Society honoured the academic research achievement of 15 young scientists at the fourth annual awards, presented in Adelaide on Friday 13 September 2013.
The Scopus awards were launched in 2010 to support early-career researchers in their quest to advance the frontiers of science across disciplines.
This year’s awards attracted more than 100 applications from research institutions across Australia and New Zealand. Applications were judged by independent panels of subject experts for each of the five award categories.
The 15 award recipients included in the Physical Sciences category UTAS’ Professor Michael Breadmore (First Runner-up; School of Chemistry) and Prof Matt King (Second Runner-up; School of Geography & Environmental Studies).
