The University of Tasmania’s Mt Pleasant Radiotelescope Observatory and the Grote Reber Museum and are near Cambridge.
The Observatory is equipped with three antennas, 26m, 14m and 12m in diameter, all which are prime focus instruments. Students learn, amongst other things how a radiotelescope works and what it is used for.
The Museum is dedicated to the life and work of Grote Reber, the “father of radioastronomy” and features a theatre that shows space-related 3D movies and demonstrations.
Bookings are essential and an entry fee of $4/person applies. Booking information can be found online on the Grote Reber Museum website
