Tasmania is an ideal place to study native vegetation and gain first-hand experience in wilderness areas. The School of Plant Science at the University of Tasmania has international recognition for teaching and research in physiological and forest genetics, evolution and ecology of the Australian flora, facilitated by outstanding molecular and plant growth facilities.
Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour, human experience and mental processes. It considers explanations and causes of behaviour and applies that knowledge to help individuals and groups in clinical settings, education, employment and the community. Psychologists study both normal and abnormal behaviour and the mental processes of individuals from early childhood to old age.
In this century communities will need skilled people with the energy and capacity to generate creative insights and solutions to complex challenges. The use of spatial data and technologies will be central to approaching these challenges. A degree in surveying and spatial sciences provides access to top-quality education in state-of-the-art concepts and technologies that span the rapidly growing spatial profession.
Zoology is the study of animal life – how animals are built, how they work, how they behave, their evolutionary relationships, how they interact with other animals, plants and organisms, and the physical environment. Tasmania is an ideal location to study zoology. It offers special opportunities for zoologists due to its unique, rich and fascinating fauna, its biogeographical history and relatively easy access to pristine terrestrial, marine and freshwater habitats.
