Description

The School of Computing & Information System's research capability spans a range of areas, including Computer Science Research, Information Research, Information Systems Research, Multi-disciplinary Research, and Research into Teaching and Learning.

The research activity also spans a range of types, including Applied Research, Strategic Basic Research, and Pure Basic Research.  The strengths of the Schoolfs research activity include:

  • Human Interface Technology including virtual and augmented realities;
  • Human Computer Interaction including mobile and ubiquitous computing and online communities;
  • E]Health applications and evaluation including chronic disease self]management, assistive technologies, clinical handover enhancement, and secure electronic communications evaluation;
  • Interpretevist research into Information Systems strategy and governance, business process management, and action research; and
  • Intelligent web monitoring, knowledge management systems, and data

Many researchers conduct their research with internal and external research organizations. Key funded research collaborations by UTAS researchers include with colleagues in:

UTAS has recently moved to strategically enhance and improve research activity in this division with investments to attract new high performing researchers and to invest in equipment and facilities through initiatives like the HITLAB Australia, SenseT project and Environmental Studies. The skills and technologies in the school is identified as one of core infrastructure components.
