What happens when there are more than two variables?
Sometimes more than one measurement is taken during an investigation. Then it is possible to combine the graphs into one multiple column graph as example shows below.

Example: Investigating effects of exercise on the rate of blood flow at rest, during light and strenuous exercise.

Or if different treatments are carried out in an investigation then all three line graphs could be shown on one axis.
