Primary Industry Centre for Science Education (PICSE)

This program is hosted by the School of Agricultural Science, UTAS and has the following objectives:

  • To encourage students to continue with school science and on to university science
  • To inform students and teachers about the diversity of exciting and rewarding science career futures that are available in primary industry
  • To support science teachers with the provision of class activities, teaching resources and targeted Professional Learning
PICSE

2008 UTAS Cradle Coast Science Fair
The Science Fair will be held at the Burnie Civic Centre on the 7th of October. Contact Paul O'Halloran for details on 03 6430 4927 or email Paul.O'Halloran@utas.edu.au.

Industry Placement Scholarship
Industry Placement Scholarship for Year 11-12 students will be held in December and January (2007-2008). This program outlines the importance of tertiary science to local industries and provides students with an introduction to various local industries and the opportunity to participate in an industry placement with one of the companies. Teachers' Professional Learning (Year 11/12)
"NANOTECHNOLOGY: Is it the Future of Science?"
2-3 December 2008 (Hobart)
Nanotechnology is emerging as one of the most far-reaching new science technologies.
We will be providing world leaders in this field of science to explore:
"What's on the Horizon for this exciting direction of science research and its applications?"
