Foundation Units

Mathematics Foundation Unit (KMA003)

This unit is completed over a six-week period with lectures held one evening per week from 6-8 pm and an additional 1x2 hour tutorial per week. All students are required to attend one of the initial introductory sessions held at the Hobart Campus or Cradle Coast Campus.

Life Science Foundation Unit (KPZ005)

This unit is offered jointly by the Schools of Plant Science and Zoology on the Hobart campus, usually in February in the week preceding the start of semester, and comprises 9 x 3 hour tutorials (27 contact hours) over five days, with a supplementary online component. Physics Foundation Unit (KYA004)

This unit is completed over a six-week period, including a one day compulsory practical session (at the Hobart Campus). Lectures are held one evening per week from 6-8 pm with an additional 1x2hour tutorial per week. The subject is taught through a combination of independent learning, lectures, tutorials and prac sessions.

Chemistry Foundation Unit (KRA001)

The Chemistry Foundation Unit is an online unit. The unit runs over a six-week period in Summer School, or as a self-paced program during Semester 1 or 2. Additionally, compulsory laboratory sessions are held as follows:

  • Summer School - on completion of the six-week theoretical component
  • Semester 1 - TBA
  • Semester 2 - Throughout the semester.
