Setting an Agenda for Tourism Development

Professor Can Seng Ooi, University of Tasmania

Tourism has become a major industry in Tasmania. Fortunately, many destinations offer lessons for the island. Professor Ooi will bring together his vast research experiences in tourism to this seminar. He will propose an agenda for tourism development. The agenda will cover issues on stakeholder management, tourisification, tourist accessibility and other salient concerns. The goal is to open up discussion, and Professor Ooi will play the role of provocateur. One can expect the session to be lively and interactive.

Can Seng Ooi is the newly appointed Professor of Cultural and Heritage Tourism at the University of Tasmania. He is a sociologist and has been working on tourism research for more than two decades. As a firm believer in engaged scholarship, he involves his research with the community and industry through classes, fieldwork and discussions.

Friday 24 March 2017, 1.00pm to 1.50pm

Room 586, Social Sciences Building, Sandy Bay Campus

This is a free seminar and everyone is welcome to attend.
