Erin has been teaching media and communication studies at universities since 2006. Prior to joining UTAS in 2011, she was a tutor at Murdoch University and a lecturer at the University of Notre Dame Australia.
Erin's research explores the intersections between media and the fantastic. Her PhD thesis, completed in 2011, investigated the retelling of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein in popular cinema of the digital age, and her current research focuses on adaptation, cross-media storytelling, and the fantastic in popular film and television. Her particular research interests include the construction of posthuman identity in digital animation and the persistence of cultural fascination with the monstrous/mechanical body.
