Career Summary

Anthea is a Senior Lecturer in Social Work. For the past eight years she has been the Research Co-ordinator at the Dementia Research Centre at the Launceston General Hospital. In 2005 she was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to explore community-based programs for people with dementia in the USA and Canada. Anthea has 25 years' experience as a social worker and researcher in both South Australia and Tasmania, mainly in the health and ageing sectors. She is a member of the AASW (Tas Branch) committee.

Current Research Grants

• 2009-2012 Normal pressure hydrocephalus: treatable dementia, missed diagnosis. Diagnostic guidelines to improve clinical decision making. Clifford Craig Medical Research Trust grant ($315,000).
• 2010 The Social, Economic and Health Impacts of 'Ageing-in-place' Policies on Informal Carers of People with Dementia: A Tasmanian Pilot Study. UTAS internal grant ($5,284).
