Bruce is also an associate staff member of the UTAS Housing and Community Research Unit (HACRU).
Research Interests
Bruce Tranter’s research interests include Australian national identity, environmental social movements, political attitudes and behaviour and value change. He publishes widely in national and international social science journals and is an experienced survey researcher and data analyst.
Current research projects and interests include the influence of heroic figures on Australian national identity, political influences on attitudes and action on climate change and leadership in the environmental movement. Tranter and his colleagues recently received two ARC Discovery Grants for funding between 2013 and 2015 on ‘Leadership and the Construction of Environmental Concerns in Australia’ (Bruce Tranter and Libby Lester DP130102154) and ‘Social Futures and Life Pathways of young people in Queensland’ (Zlatko Skrbis, Bruce Tranter, Clive Bean DP130101490).
