Emily is currently on leave.
During Semester 1 2011, Emily was the HGA101 Sociology A coordinator and lecturer for Launceston Internal, Distance and Cradle Coast students, which she enjoyed immensely. She also taught into the Honours unit HGA404 Research Design.
Emily’s 2008 PhD research was driven by an interest in the ways that young people make sense of their sexual risk taking. Her thesis employed narrative analysis to highlight the nexus between identity, risk and sex and the way in which self-storytelling can be used as a tool for moral identity construction. Her current research agenda focuses on young people’s health and well being and concomitantly, the importance of reflexivity for conducting ethical qualitative research.
