UTAS Web Access Research Portal (WARP) - lists Marg's funded projects, graduate research supervision and publication information.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Tasmania in 2001, Marg worked in a Domestic Violence Crisis Service and a Community Palliative Care Service. In 2003, Marg was granted an Australian Postgraduate Award, and in the following year began her PhD studies in the School of Sociology and Social Work at the University of Tasmania. Marg’s research focussed on end of life issues, specifically relating to a life limiting illness. Throughout her studies she continued working as a social work practitioner in the field of palliative care, advancing her skills and knowledge as a clinician. In 2008 she was offered a 12 month employment contract by Calvary Health Care Tasmania (North) to undertake an applied research project investigating hospital discharge processes for people diagnosed with a life limiting illness. At the completion of this project, a new position was created for a social worker and Marg commenced working with Calvary Health Care (North) on a part time basis as a senior social worker. In 2009 she graduated with her Doctorate of Philosophy (Social Work) with the thesis titled ‘The lived experience of compassionate love at end of life’. In 2010 she began working as a social work lecturer for the School of Sociology and Social Work at the University of Tasmania.
