Study areas include international security, human rights, terrorism and counterterrorism, the political economy, Australian politics, international and local politics of the environment, Asian politics, and police studies.

Politics and International Relations attracts engaged, motivated and passionate students in our International Relations, Politics and Policy, and Police Studies programs.

We have a proud history as being one of the oldest political science departments in Australia. Public Administration was first taught at the University of Tasmania in 1917, and Political Science has been offered since the 1950s.
