Senior Lecturer, School of Sociology and Social Work
Background and Research Interests
Keith was appointed a Senior Lecturer in Sociology in 2005, his previous posts have included Research Fellow and Director of the Housing and Community Research Unit at the University of Tasmania in 2002-2005, principal lecturer in ‘Housing Studies' at the University of Westminster, Principal Policy Officer for the London Borough of Newham and a Senior Housing Manager for the London Borough of Hackney. He is currently Associate Dean in the Faculty of Arts with responsibility for Research.
He has published widely on housing and urban policy issues and is the author of the ‘Dynamics of Local Housing Policy' published by Ashgate Press (1999). His most recent publication ‘Social Constructionism in Housing Research' (edited with Jim Kemeny and Tony Manzi) was published by Ashgate Press in 2004. Keith's current research interests include housing policy, urban sociology and discourse based research methodologies. Keith's most recent projects include a monograph on Australian migration, an edited collection on Cosmopolitanism (with Jeff Malpas) and an AHURI funded project examining the role of state housing authorities in responding to environmental disasters.
