The Southern Gospel Choir is a contemporary gospel choir, combining university and community in a dynamic performance ensemble. The SGC embraces the grooves and harmonic structures of jazz, funk, soul, house and hip-hop with powerful melodies and vocal arrangements of African American gospel music, its heart, its soul and its joy. In March 2015, the Southern Gospel Choir expanded and formed a chapter, SGC NW, under the direction of Bron Darvell in Burnie on Tasmania's North West coast.
