Six student members of the STEM education and outreach team traveled to Launceston and Burnie on 28 and 29 June 2012 to run STEM workshops for primary-aged children and their families.
A total of eight two hour sessions were delivered in the following areas: air powered cars, electricity, flying vehicles, rockets, simple mechanical machines, sound, structural and water engineering, and vehicle safety. Children came from government and independent schools as well as from the home school community. This was a joint initiative with the Community Development Division of the Department of Premier and Cabinet. Funding came from "Ignite your Imagination" which is an Australian government "Inspiring Australia" initiative.
