We are pleased to be able to invite students to get involved for the inaugural Students as Change Agents projects. You are invited to develop an action research project within one of your units, your discipline or in areas across the University. The project should be one of your own choosing that is of concern within your School/Faculty or the University.

How to develop a project idea:

• Decide on a topic and a question that is of interest to you and that you think would improve your university experience. The topic should relate to an issue that you have encountered while studying at UTAS.
• You can complete your research project by yourself or in a group. If you would like to form a group, discuss your ideas with your fellow team members.
• Discuss your idea with your School's Students as Change Agents Staff Representative.
• Before you start on a project, you will need to complete a short application form, so start to think about possible topics and what you would like to achieve.
• The important thing to remember is the project is about helping to improve your, and fellow students' university experience, including learning and teaching. Examples of topics can include; assessment and feedback, student engagement in lectures, seminar experiences, podcasts as a learning tool, employability, writing skills, online learning and sustainability, and that's just a few.
• Your application will be reviewed and the best applications will be selected and informed immediately.
• Projects will run in Semester 1, 2014.

 

What is involved once my Project is approved?

Students will be required to provide a 1,000 word case study of their project, including;

• A project description and why it is important;
• The key research findings and any proposed recommendations, and;
• Feedback from staff and/or students about what was gained by undertaking the research.

You will have an opportunity to present and share your findings at the Students Matter Conference in 2014
