University of Tasmania, Australia

The IAP is a four to five week course (60 hours of face-to-face contact) designed specifically for and delivered to AusAID scholarship holders newly arrived at the Hobart and Launceston campuses of the University of Tasmania. 

The IAP has the following aims:

• to equip students with practical skills and information to assist with their everyday life in Australia; 
• to facilitate adjustment to the academic culture of an Australian university, and more specifically, to student life at their campus of the University of Tasmania;
• to develop the English language and academic skills these students require for the successful completion of their degrees; and 
• to diagnose areas of difficulty and recommend ongoing strategies to assist with these.

The IAP is coordinated by the Student Learning and Academic Development team in conjunction with the Scholarships Office. The program is primarily delivered by Student Learning, with guest sessions conducted by International Student Advisers, University Librarians and the Riawunna Centre.
