As a Learning Skills Adviser, Jane works with Nursing and Paramedic students to develop their academic skills through interactive and student centred workshops and consultations on Sydney campuses. Her other key responsibility is the delivery of UniStart program in Sydney. She believes that students achieve their academic goals sooner if they receive appropriate guidance on learning skills.
Jane taught English as an additional language for adults in a variety of English language programs for 5 years before she joined UTAS in 2013. She is experienced in teaching in a culturally and linguistically diverse context. Her academic skills workshops are tailored according to the learning problems and difficulties reflected by students during individual or group consultations. Jane liaises with lecturers on a regular basis. Their feedback on students' academic performance plays an integral role in her workshop planning.
Jane is interested in embedding and integrating language and academic skills.
