Jill's role of Learning Skills Adviser is to assist students to adapt and develop those skills integral to success in their chosen area of study. She has worked for several years on the Introductory Academic Programme (IAP) with overseas students from the Australian Maritime College. She aims to assist them in their transition from the workforce into study by giving them the necessary skills they will require. She has also worked for a number of years with students from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds helping them elevate their written and spoken English to an academically acceptable level. In her current role as a casual Learning Skills Adviser Jill assists the other team members in supporting all students in every area of academia.
Jill has designed and implemented the Learning Skills course for the Introductory Academic Programme at the Australian Maritime College and runs this course each January.
Jill is a certified CELTA teacher and has tutored both privately and at secondary and tertiary level. She has worked with the American Field Service Organization for many years, with English Language short course programmes for secondary level exchange students. She has also worked briefly within the Adult Migrant English sector.
