Career Mentor Program

The Career Mentor Program matches University of Tasmania students with alumni on the basis of shared interests, degree background or industry

For students, it's a valuable way to gain useful career advice, through building an informal and supportive relationship with an experienced UTAS graduate.

For mentors, there is personal satisfaction in making a difference to the career development of a student, and giving back to your university.

Participants in the program can choose to engage various ways:

  • 1:1 pairs
  • small group (2 - 4 mentees)
  • face to face meeting (for Tasmanian-based mentors)
  • distance (Skype/email contact)

All participants are provided with a program manual which included suggested topics for discussion, self-reflective exercises, and a Mentor Agreement (PDF 89 KB). Student mentees and alumni mentors are expected to participate in an induction session at the beginning of the program, and a debriefing session at the conclusion of the program.
