The first aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis is resolved. The aims of MHFA are to:
MHFA does not teach people how to be therapists but how to provide initial help and how to go about guiding a person towards appropriate professional help. The course will be conducted by Donna Harriss, a registered psychologist working within the Student Centre, and is designed to be interactive. All participants are encouraged to bring their own professional experiences to discuss within the sessions.
