Event puts fun back into fitness in Launceston
If it’s fun and keeps you fit, it has been on show to the public today at the annual Active Launceston Expo.
The 2011 Active Launceston Expo at the Launceston Silverdome, has attracted hundreds of Northern Tasmanian families.
The ‘lifestyle challenge’ – an event which saw competitors pushing lawnmowers, wheelbarrows and vacuum cleaners in a relay race – was won by Launceston Mayor Albert van Zetten’s team, in a fiercely fought competition.
Some of those who put their bodies on the line in the challenge were North Launceston Football Club full forward Darren Crawford and B&E Personal Banking chief executive Paul Ranson.
More than 29 exhibitors were included in this year’s event, demonstrating activities like Zumba, cricket, hockey, boot camp, croquet, martial arts and gymnastics.
