Tasmanians are invited to join the new fun run revolution taking over the globe with Colour Me Active, Active Launceston's salute to being happy, healthy and having fun.
This is the first time an event of this type has been held in Tasmania. The event is all about getting out, being active and enjoying yourself.
Only three rules apply: start pristine, finish a canvas of colour, and have fun!
At the start line, and along the way, participants will be sprayed in a multitude of colours with dyed corn starch that is safe and will wash off.
Active Launceston will be hosting this exciting event on the University of Tasmania's Newnham campus on Wednesday, October 16 at 3pm.
"The UTAS campus is the perfect venue for such an event," University of Tasmania Pro Vice-Chancellor (Regional Development) Janelle Allison said.
"We are excited to showcase not only the University and the culture on campus but to bring the staff, students and whole community together to get active."
UTAS Centre for Active Living director Associate Professor Stu Smith said: "UTAS is a proud supporter of Active Launceston and its programs and initiatives; they align with our current direction of becoming the preventative healthcare precinct for the state."
"An event such as this will not only provide a fun health initiative for the community but we hope it will become part of the drawcard for attracting new students to UTAS."
Other Active Launceston initiatives currently operating include: Active Parks, Active Gyms, Active Bike and Active Kids, which will start on Friday October 25.
Active Launceston is a community-driven partnership with the vision of improving the health and wellbeing of the Launceston community through physical Activity.
It is managed by the University of Tasmania in partnership with Launceston City Council.
