If you love movies, the UTAS Film Society could be for you…
The Launceston UTAS community is being invited to join a new film society, which plans to screen weekly movies for staff, students and the general public.
The UTAS Film Society is holding its premiere on Tuesday, July 26, from 7pm at the Australian Maritime College lecture theatre.
UTAS Film Society spokeswoman Leanne Arnott said membership for the year would be a one-off payment of $5.
Films will be screened each Tuesday night.
“It’s for people that have an appreciation of film, but also for people who want to develop more knowledge about film,” Ms Arnott said.
“We are not going to be showing the new releases or big blockbusters. It will be more about the good stuff – some classics, foreign films, cultural films and some mainstream movies as well.”
UTAS Film Society members will also be able to enjoy discounted meals at Salts on Tuesday evenings before movies are screened.
