Celebrating schools’ sustainability

A conference this week will at UTAS will celebrate the Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative (AuSSI) Tasmanian program and the Year of Biodiversity.

AuSSI is the partnership between the Australian Government and the States and Territories. The AuSSI vision is for all Australian schools and their communities to be sustainable.

There are more than 2,000 schools Australia wide participating in the sustainable schools initiative.

The event held at Stanley Burbury Theatre UTAS, will include:

  • Key Note Speaker Costa Georgiadis from Costa’s Garden Odyssey - Gardening Guru
  • Arron Wood, winner of the 2007 Prime Minister’s Australian Environmentalist of the Year
  • Richard Wood, from Kids Teaching Kids. Richard is winner of the 1999 The Ford One Planet Environmental Award and the 1999 Victorian State Landcare Award

The presentation of Alcorso Awards recognising excellence in educating for sustainability will also take place.
