Sun shines on Hobart graduands

Graduands get set to process outside the Medical Sciences 1 building in Hobart.

The annual Town and Gown graduation procession in Hobart this week was blessed with sunshine- despite some dark clouds in the sky.

More than 300 graduands from the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Health Science, along with the Lord Mayor of Hobart, university staff and guests, took part in the procession.

The procession began at the original site of the university, Domain House, and proceeded to the Federation Concert Hall.

Family, friends and members of the community lined the streets to wish the graduands well.

Launceston’s Town and Gown procession is coming up this Saturday (Saturday 17 December - 10:30am).  The procession is held before the 11am ceremony only, but all candidates graduating on the day are invited to participate. At 10:30am the procession, with police escort and band, will move from Civic Square south along St John Street, east along Brisbane Street, and then through City Park, arriving at the Albert Hall at 10.45 am.
