What happens after you graduate from UTAS, having studied Tourism?
The Tourism Program in the Faculty of Business decided to answer this question through a competition at Open Day, and their strategy proved to be a resounding success.
The competition asked entrants to read a list of 20 actual careers that UTAS tourism graduates have in the tourism industry and select their favourite. The prizes for the competition proved to be a big draw card.
The competition was sponsored by the Sorell Fruit Farm who kindly donated Two Entries to the Farm, along with a Liqueur. The winnings also included a massive 1.6 Litre Magnum of Stefano Lubiana Riesling.
The winner of the competition was Anita Wheeler, an 18 year old school student from Hobart. A budding entrepreneur, Anita had arranged to "sell" her bottle of Lubiana Wine to her mother, Kate Wheeler, who accompanied her to collect the prize.
And the most popular career? It was the Tour Guide with Gap Adventures Canada, closely followed by the Resort Supervisor at Day Dream Island, Qld.
