What
do people get from visiting Antarctica? Dr Jenny Scott will tell all in an
upcoming free public lecture.
Dr
Scott will deliver the talk: What do people get from visiting
Antarctica? Experiences as a 'Ship Naturalist'.
Dr
Scott is a subantarctic ecologist and an Honorary Research Associate with the
School of Geography and Environmental Studies.
For
the past 16 years she has worked summer seasons as a ship naturalist imparting
knowledge to – and receiving knowledge from – passengers on an expedition-style
Antarctic tourist ship.
Travel
is often an integral part of knowledge creation and research, and the School of
Geography and Environmental Studies 2012 Friday Forum series showcases the
contribution of travel to knowledge and knowledge creation.
Scientists,
artists, academics and public figures present unique and diverse travelogues –
images and stories – of their journeys both interstate and overseas.
