What do people get from visiting Antarctica?

What do people get from visiting Antarctica? Dr Jenny Scott will tell all in an upcoming free public lecture.

Dr Scott will deliver the talk: What do people get from visiting Antarctica? Experiences as a 'Ship Naturalist'.

Dr Scott is a subantarctic ecologist and an Honorary Research Associate with the School of Geography and Environmental Studies.

For the past 16 years she has worked summer seasons as a ship naturalist imparting knowledge to – and receiving knowledge from – passengers on an expedition-style Antarctic tourist ship.

Travel is often an integral part of knowledge creation and research, and the School of Geography and Environmental Studies 2012 Friday Forum series showcases the contribution of travel to knowledge and knowledge creation.

Scientists, artists, academics and public figures present unique and diverse travelogues – images and stories – of their journeys both interstate and overseas.

Venue: Lecture Theatre 211, School of Geography and Environmental Studies, University of Tasmania, Sandy Bay

Time: Friday 25 May 2012, 4-5pm, followed by drinks and nibbles
